LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH) will soon offer an updated flight schedule for United Airlines operated by SkyWest, reflecting demand for morning air service between Lynchburg and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) following the launch of service earlier this year.
Beginning in September, the revised schedule is expected to shift to a new early morning departure from Lynchburg to Washington Dulles, providing travelers with expanded access to morning connections through United’s global network. The updated schedule is also expected to include continued same-day service between Lynchburg and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Tickets reflecting the updated September schedule are now available for booking through United Airlines.
The aircraft serving the Lynchburg market is anticipated to remain overnight at LYH to support “originator service,” allowing passengers to begin travel from Lynchburg early in the morning rather than waiting for inbound aircraft positioning from another market. Airport officials say this operational adjustment reflects confidence in the region’s growing demand for commercial air service and enhances schedule reliability for travelers.
Under the updated schedule:
- Lynchburg to Washington Dulles departures are expected to leave at approximately 6:25 a.m. each morning.
- Return service from Washington Dulles to Lynchburg is expected later that same morning at approximately 8:43 a.m.
- The aircraft is then expected to continue service between Lynchburg and Chicago O’Hare, with departures anticipated at approximately 10:25 a.m. and return service at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Final schedules remain subject to airline confirmation and operational adjustments.

United Airlines operated by SkyWest launched service between Lynchburg and Washington Dulles in March 2026, providing Central Virginia travelers with direct access to one of United’s largest hub airports and expanded domestic and international connections.
